ConqHer DreamHer Camp

Case Study: ConqHer DreamHer Camp

Teaching Confidence, Style, and Budget-Friendly Choices—One Outfit at a Time

ConqHer is a Dallas–Fort Worth–based nonprofit that mentors and equips under-resourced girls and women with skills, confidence, and resilience. For more than a decade, they’ve helped girls and women thrive through education, leadership, and holistic support.

One of ConqHer’s standout initiatives is DreamHer Camp, a summer experience for girls ages 11–15 that blends STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) education with entrepreneurship, confidence coaching, and exposure to real-world opportunities.

Through a creative partnership with Do More Goods—a VolunteerNow™ program that gives donated surplus goods a second life—ConqHer offered DreamHer campers a chance to step into their futures with confidence, style, and purpose.

The Challenge

While planning the professional development series for DreamHer Camp, Program Director and Confidence Concierge Nikki Jordan asked an important question: If we want to help prepare campers for their future careers, why not help them dress for them too?

Nikki and her team turned to Do More Goods for help outfitting dozens of girls with career-ready clothing, equipping them learn how to work with a budget without compromising on quality or individuality.

The Solution

With Do More Goods, the ConqHer team was able to bring their vision to life. The plan: give each camper a $25 budget to shop for a full professional outfit as part of their DreamHer Camp career exposure.

VolunteerNow™’s Do More Goods program gives surplus goods a second chance by redistributing them where they’re needed most. Corporate and retail partners, including national retailers like J.C. Penney, donate new goods such as clothing, accessories, beauty products, household and office supplies, and more. VolunteerNow™ redistributes goods through large-scale Goods Giveaways to nonprofits, Goods Grants to fill nonprofits’ budget gaps, and Do More Goods retail stores providing steep discounts on products.

By shopping at Do More Goods, campers experienced firsthand how new, donated goods can help turn a tight budget into a confidence-building moment.

From the moment they stepped into Do More Goods, the girls lit up. They felt excited not just to shop, but to build an entire outfit that balanced personal style with professionalism.

ConqHer staff helped them pick outfits while teaching them what it looks like to dress professionally on a $25 budget, stretching donated goods even further while reinforcing financial literacy and self-reliance.

The Impact

What started as a wardrobe experience turned into a masterclass in confidence, collaboration, and smart decision-making.

Campers practiced financial literacy, teamwork, and self-expression as they shopped. They built confidence while making budget-conscious choices and discovered that looking the part can feel empowering when the process affirms who you are and what you’re capable of becoming.

“It connected us with them in a different kind of way, because we’re helping them pick outfits, but also teaching them to make it your style, but also make it professional. This is what professional actually looks like.”
