Fort Worth ISD Partners with VOLY.org

(DALLAS – 2/16/17) – Fort Worth Independent School District will adopt the innovative volunteer management platform VOLY.org, powered by VolunteerNow, to manage more than 14,500 volunteers annually. Thousands of community members donate 398,170 hours to support teachers and administrators across all 133 district campuses.

“VolunteerNow is proud to be part of the educational pipeline in North Texas, from instilling community service values in our children to engaging parents in the classroom,” VolunteerNow CEO Tammy Richards said. “Implementing VOLY.org is a progressive step toward seamlessly accessing and incorporating outside resources to impact the educational success for all Fort Worth ISD students.”

On the public-facing side, VOLY.org connects 40,000 volunteers to hundreds of opportunities and needs posted by local nonprofits. Fort Worth ISD will use this same technology to plug-in parents, trustees and other school administrators directly to classroom needs. VOLY.org can schedule complex volunteer shifts; is integrated with VeriFYI, the most thorough background checking service in Texas; track volunteer hours; and allow volunteers to apply for positions through the customized Fort Worth ISD portal.

“Fort Worth ISD is excited to reach a broader number of potential volunteers through VOLY.org’s targeted volunteer opportunity feature and VolunteerNow's established channels," said Jennifer Perez, Fort Worth ISD Family Communications Department Director. "The district will have the ability for individual schools to post and update their volunteer opportunities, so they are always current and it is easy for potential volunteers to find what they are looking for, either in one or more schools.”

The district joins Dallas ISD in utilizing VOLY.org to connect the community to the classroom. Dallas ISD has been successfully recruiting, engaging and managing the platform since September 2016 with the launch of the 2016-2017 school year, managing 27,000 volunteers across 228 schools.

VolunteerNow is accustomed to implementing its 24/7 VOLY.org platform in settings around North Texas and beyond state lines. VOLY.org is currently used by the Volunteer Center of Erie County in Ohio, and VolunteerNow staff was recently called to Flint, Michigan, where VOLY.org was instrumental in streamlining volunteer and donation efforts throughout the ongoing water crisis. Within North Texas, VOLY.org powers the Tarrant and Dallas County Court Systems and the City of Dallas volunteer program.

VolunteerNow (formerly the Volunteer Center of North Texas) serves as the hub of volunteerism in North Texas. Last year, volunteers served 1.1 million hours, generating $28 million in economic impact for the region by connecting more than 40,000 volunteers annually to 2,200 local nonprofits. VOLY.org, powered by VolunteerNow, is the 24/7 connection between volunteers and local service opportunities. As a national thought leader in volunteerism and one of the largest volunteer centers in the country, VolunteerNow provides a wide range of programs and services that build capacity for nonprofits.
