About Donated Goods

VolunteerNow’s Donated Goods program takes new and needed goods and redistributes them to Low Moderate Income (LMI) communities and nonprofits serving that sector. Donated Goods provides three essential services.

Discount Depot

It started in 1989 with our partners at JCPenney’s and has grown to 18 retail partners, including eight Fortune 500 companies. Our stores have everything from clothes and home goods to food and over-the-counter medicines. The minimal fees we charge cover our program expenses, allowing Donated Goods to be a self-sustaining program the community can count on.

Goods Giveaways

When corporate partners give big, so do we. Large scale donations are redistributed on a first-come, first-served basis at no expense to our nonprofit partners. Since this program’s inception in March 2023, we have donated over 86,700 items to 165 nonprofits in DFW.

You are invited to select the items most needed to support your mission. If we have excess goods, we may be able to provide you with items at no cost. Goods are first come, first serve. Agency must arrange pick up.

Goods Grants

Ninety-five (95) percent of the goods VolunteerNow receives are new. Some nonprofit partners cannot distribute used items to the children they serve. We offer a limited number of grants annually to provide ongoing support to nonprofits with unique needs for new goods.

Our Discount Depot program allows corporations to direct items from landfills, save money by allowing VolunteerNow to remove surplus inventory, and help nonprofits stretch their dollars to cover vital needs.

Our Donated Goods program serves over 40,000 people annually. We are open to individual volunteers and groups up to fifty.
