Voly in the Park Returns to Klyde Warren Park

Mark your calendars – one of Dallas’ most entertaining showcases of volunteerism is returning to Klyde Warren Park. The second annual Voly in the Park, hosted by VolunteerNow, is slated for Saturday, June 6, from noon to 4 p.m. The free festival will showcase vibrant nonprofits, with performances, games and special celebrity appearances - all to celebrate volunteerism and promote volunteer sign-ups on VOLY.org.

After an incredibly successful inaugural year, the event will return bigger and better. Last year’s event featured 40 nonprofits and generated 2,000 new volunteers through VOLY.org. This year’s event is shaping up to host 60 nonprofits, along with non-stop appearances by performers and special guests.

“We definitely hope to top last year’s event this June,” VolunteerNow Tammy Richards said. “We believe that volunteers change everything, and VOLY.org is the best way to connect volunteers with nonprofits in need of help.”

Debuted in late 2013, VOLY.org is an online platform that makes it quick and easy for area volunteers to connect with organizations that match their passions.  The platform offers hundreds of volunteer opportunities at more than 1,000 North Texas nonprofits.

VOLY.org allows volunteers to create an account, select causes that interest them, indicate which skills they may be able to use to help a nonprofit as well as what times and areas of the region are most convenient. With one click, they will receive a list of volunteer opportunities tailored just for their interests, abilities and schedule

“Voly in the Park is about connecting volunteers to nonprofits on a personal level and using VOLY.org to start that conversation,” Richards said. “Volunteers – and potential volunteers – can spend the afternoon at this festival getting inspired to spark community change in numerous ways.”

Last year’s Voly in the Park highlights include Dallas Cowboy legend Drew Pearson, Miss Texas, representatives from the Dallas Mavericks, presentations by the Dallas Zoo, music and dance performances and 40 area nonprofit organizations hosting interactive activities at their booths. Nonprofits represented covered a wide range of causes, from nature, history and art to children, animals, disaster assistance and hunger, and included some of North Texas’ leading organizations, such as the American Red Cross, Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Garden, North Texas Food Bank, Make A Wish Foundation of North Texas, Meals On Wheels of Tarrant County and Wee Volunteer.
