An afternoon at JCPenney

The fair on Wednesday, April was an employee-led volunteer fair that allowed JCPenney employees an opportunity to find volunteer needs without ever leaving the office. The open breezeway allowed employees to leisurely stop by during breaks and lunch to learn about the 20 plus organizations that were there and how to get involved.

Many participated in posting their passion on our 15 in 2015 board, and everyone walked away with goodies and smiles from our table thanks to three members of the Volunteer Center staff. Other nonprofits in attendance also learned about our upcoming events and membership opportunities by one of our staff members going around and meeting each and every vendor in between interested patrons.

"We had a blast and plan to attend every year if we are invited," said Shaylon Scott, volunteer engagement manager for the Volunteer Center. "It was great to see employees take away meaningful information during something as simple as their lunch break. Volunteers change everything and can do it at any time!"
