Meghan Delaney Recognized with National Volunteer Management Award

VolunteerNow is proud and excited to share that Meghan Delaney is being recognized for her outstanding work!

From National Association of Volunteer Programs in Local Government:

Meghan Delaney, Community Engagement and Impact Manager for VolunteerNow, will be honored with the Outstanding New Volunteer Administrator Award by the National Association of Volunteer Programs in Local Government (NAVPLG). The award will be presented at the Points of Light Conference in St. Paul, Minnesota on June 18.

Delaney supports the volunteer program for the City of Dallas through VolunteerNow. In her role, she supports and trains more than 50 City of Dallas employees and volunteer coordinators to engage 9,000 volunteers who share more than 460,000 hours annually. Delaney helps connect staff in various City departments and created a training series to help staff network and learn from one another.

Delaney coordinated over 2,000 spontaneous volunteers following Hurricane Harvey in 2017 at the City of Dallas mega-shelter and continues to work with the Mass Care Task Force and Dallas Office of Emergency Management.

“NAVPLG is excited to honor Meghan Delaney with this award to recognize her professionalism in the field of volunteer management,” said Leigh Kottwitz, Past President of NAVPLG and Neighborhood Services Manager for the City of Columbia, Missouri. “Volunteer managers play an important role in mobilizing people to make a difference in their communities.”

Founded in 1997, NAVPLG is an international association of administrators for volunteer programs in local, city, and county government. NAVPLG encourages professional development and networking among those who manage volunteers in local government.
