MBAs solve nonprofits' challenges!

Congratulations to Austin Street Center and Housing Crisis Center for being selected for the Dallas Business Club’s Nonprofit Hackathon!  The inaugural event was hosted on August 29 by SMU’s Cox School of Business and Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business in partnership with VolunteerNow.

More than 50 MBA professionals from the corporate sector invested about 150 hours collectively in tackling organizational issues. This fast, fun and thought-provoking event provided an opportunity for nonprofits to build relationships with business professionals who want to use their skills outside of the office to significantly impact the community. The event was a success and we want to give special thanks to Sherri Ansley with Housing Crisis Center and Laura Gorecki with Austin Street Center for engaging skilled professional volunteers in addressing interesting, mission-driven challenges.

"What an exciting Saturday for Housing Crisis Center.  We are thrilled with how well your event was planned and executed, but more importantly, we were thrilled with the unbelievable amount of information, guidance, and support we received.  The knowledge shared with us, expertise in many areas, not only affirmed much of what we have been thinking, but also added new ideas for us to ponder, probe, and put into practice!"
