Honor your volunteers in April!
National Volunteer Week, established 1974, is April 10-16 this year, and provides nationwide awareness of the important role volunteers play in transforming our communities. As nonprofits we understand that volunteer recognition is an ongoing activity, however it is a nice reminder to do something extra for the important volunteers who make our missions possible. Here are some quick tips and resources for celebrating volunteers:
Create a thank you bulletin board with pictures of your volunteers in action and handwritten thank you notes from staff and clients.
Write thank you messages on 4”X4” ceramic tile using permanent markers to create original custom coasters.
Post each volunteer’s hours on VOLY.org and the platform will send a thank you email for you.
Send Thank You cards. It Takes Two and Greeting Card Universe are great resources to get you started!
Set up Birthday cards for an entire month to be delivered on your volunteers’ birthdays. ‘It Takes Two’ has some great ones.
Use Wordle.net to create beautiful word clouds with each volunteer’s name and the kind words your staff and clients have to say about them. Print in color and present in an inexpensive frame.
Nominate an outstanding volunteer for VolunteerNow’s 45 Years of Impact recognition.
